মামা, আমি তো বিদেশ যামু গা

This is really sad to see the difference between the standards of Computer Science (BSC) in Bangladesh and any North American University.

The curriculums don't get updated to match with the latest technologies, and if they do, it's 2-3 years later. When most students somehow join a company to do actual work, they get depressed because they don't know what is going and how to complete or even start the task.

For example : CSE 370: Database Systems (3 credits) on BRACU.

The theory classes are somewhat good enough if you want to score a good grade, and that's the end.

I don't really think the project manager will ask you to write down the definition of 'Tuples' on a piece of paper.

So, now you are thinking that 'Huh, what is this guy talking about? There's lab works in that course!'.

Yes, I know about the lab works. It also includes a project where the students have to build software to interact with the backend SQL server; for example, a CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) application, and it could be of any type (Hospital Management, E-commerce, etc.)

The students do NOT get help or instructions to make the front end of the application, which leads them to make an unfinished worst-looking application or maybe download a template from the internet and use that.

If a single student can prove that they got help to build 40% of the application, I will give all of my courses for free.

Oh, so now you're thinking, why don't I help start making the changes in your own university?

- Tried more than you could ever think. Yes, sometimes they actually listened, but that is the finish line.

In the end, we compare ourselves just to prove that we got into the QS Ranking but let's just ignore the fact that we have to improve to maintain the industry standards.

It's like a loophole where we compare who's the best football player in a small neighborhood.

I remember this joke from my childhood that a student was asked what his position was in the exam, and he replied that he stood 5th in the section and was given big chocolate but then again, when he was asked how many students were there in the section, he replied 5.
